Pink and Blue Splatter Design Espresso Coaster
A pink and blue splatter design mini coaster made with jesmonite.
This one's for all the espresso lovers out there - A mini coaster for your favourite espresso cup to sit on and complete your morning espresso routine!
When casting, I often end up with a little bit of extra jesmonite mix in my mixing buckets after pouring into moulds so I started splatting the surplus wet mix into fresh moulds, building up layers of different colours over time. The resulting splatter design makes for a much brighter and louder impression than my single colour and terrazzo style options.
I make these by handmixing each colour using pigments with a special marble effect jesmonite which I then cast in a specially made coaster mould. Each coaster is then sanded and polished to a nice sheen and fitted with cork pads to prevent scratching table tops. Finally each coaster is coated with a penetrating sealer to provide stain resistance against many liquids and environmental contaminants, and protection against water and oil.
Each espresso coaster measures approx. 6cm diameter by 1cm depth.
